Presentation Packaging and the Environment – is it time you went green?

Environment friendly packaging design is a hot topic these days and one which consumers are extremely mindful of.
Many studies show that consumers are increasingly concerned about packaging waste and at Cedar Packaging we are committed to helping deliver creative packaging solutions that meet these demands.
I’m sure some of you (like us) can remember when plastic packaging was the “new” packaging material (ok, so we're showing our age a bit here - but with over 20 years in the packaging business, we've been around the block a few times!). Consumers thought it was great for the environment, it was easy to work with, cheap to produce and it didn’t hurt any trees! Now we fully understand the impact of plastic on our environment – how wrong was our original perception!
So when designing your creative packaging here are a few environmental questions you should ask yourself:
- Can the product to packaging ratio be reduced?
- Can any of the packaging material be recycled or reused?
- Which packaging material best fits our product and supports the environment?
Whilst sourcing suitable eco-friendly packaging material at the right price can present a challenge, there are still ways in which “going green” doesn’t have to break the bank! Reducing the size of your packaging (even by only a small amount) can help reduce your costs which in turn could lead to cheaper distribution costs. And at a time when budgets are being squeezed, these are really valid points which are certainly worth considering. Small steps CAN make a big difference!
