Choosing the right material for your bespoke creative packaging solution

You may know what type of bespoke creative packaging solution you’re looking for, a presentation box, mailing carton, folder, binder, wallet, or metal tin but how do you decide which material to use from the range available? At Cedar Packaging, we have a wealth of experience in helping clients choose the best material to use for their creative packaging solutions – to ensure their products creates the wow factor they’re looking for. Below we delve a little deeper into each of the main materials available:
Paper over board
Paper over board can be used to create products of all sizes which is why it’s the material of choice for some of the most innovative and complex designs. Paper materials offer endless print options allowing you to use specialist and eye-catching print finishes such as spot UV varnish, metallic foils and embossing, helping to make your products stand out from the crowd. Its flexibility makes it ideal for a wide range of applications including ring binders, folders, boxes and cartons. When the end product lends itself to a carton or box, we are able to offer card fitments/platforms, or high density foam to hold the product perfectly in place.
Polypropylene
With the diversity of polypropylene, we can create any bespoke packaging solution for your specific requirements. Polypropylene is a strong, adaptable, cost-effective material that can be recycled. It is also a highly versatile medium that when used correctly will allow the creation of some of the most attractive and tactile packaging. Clear transparent polypropylene packaging is suitable for packs that can be printed, using screen printing for simple designs and litho for more complex solutions.
Alpro-Lyte
Alpro-Lyte is an aluminium/polypropylene laminate, consisting of two thin layers of aluminium, bonded over polypropylene. The polypropylene core allows Alpro-Lyte to be folded and creased, producing a dynamic end product, with an unrivalled, highly-prestigious look and feel. Typical Alpro-Lyte products include ring binders, folders, boxes and multi-media products. Alpro-Lyte can be branded by cutting out shapes, screen printing, laser etching, embossing or applying digital print to create totally unique propositions.
PVC
For versatility and flexibility it’s hard to beat PVC. It is available in a wide range of colours and a vast range of ultra-modern high tech finishes – from standard stationery grade to modern embossed leather-look metallic and rubber effects. The sheer range of printing techniques we can use, including screen and litho, foil blocking, debossing and encapsulating with printed sheets, makes PVC the most versatile of all materials to meet almost any design challenge.
